The Department of Mathematics has a team of highly qualified faculty members,whose research interest include Linear Alzebra, Matrix Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Astro-Physics, Elasticity and Sampling Theory.
In keeping with the tradition of imparting quality education, teaching and research are the main areas of concentration of the department.The department offers MSc and PhD programmes in Mathematics. The department also teaches mathematics to BTech, MTech and PhD students belonging to various Engineering streams.
The department keeps in pace with the advances in technology, by providing its students state-of-the-art computer facilities. The students gain knowledge of various new areas of research using the internet facilities made available in their labs and hostels. In addition to fundamental courses offered to MSc students, the department also offers courses on Wavelet Analysis, Fuzzy Set Theory, Coding Theory, Cryptography, Finite Element Methods and Applied Statistics.
The students get the opportunity of attending seminars and invited lectures delivered by eminent mathematicians and computer scientists. They also get the opportunity for campus placement in various national and multinational companies. All students and faculty members are the members of "Society for Promotion of Mathematics" which organizes different events throughout the year.
